Over the past day, rescuers extinguished 24 fires in Mykolaiv region, including dead wood, residential buildings and cars, and in Ochakiv, the fire was caused by an attack by enemy FPV drones. A tragedy occurred in the village of Bohdanivka, where a mother and son died due to faulty stove heating.

According to the press service of the State Emergency Service, March 22 was a day of large-scale fires and tragic events in Mykolaiv region. In the village of Bohdanivka, which belongs to the Prybuzka territorial community of the Voznesensk district, police officers discovered a terrible discovery: a 65-year-old woman and her 43-year-old son were lying lifeless in a house. The preliminary cause of death was combustion product poisoning caused by a malfunctioning stove.

On the same day and on the night of March 23, according to the State Emergency Service, firefighters extinguished 24 fires that spread across the region. Most of the fires occurred in open areas - dry grass, garbage, shrubs and reeds burned over a total area of more than 17 hectares. In some cases, the flames threatened residential and commercial buildings. In one case, the fire spread to an outbuilding, but the firefighters managed to save it thanks to their prompt actions.

In addition, coniferous litter caught fire in the Voznesenskoye forestry over an area of 200 square meters. The fire was extinguished by forestry workers together with rescuers, using special equipment to transport water.

There were also fires in residential buildings. In Mykolaiv, firefighters rescued a 66-year-old man by pulling him out of a burning apartment. In total, the fire damaged three residential buildings, another apartment and an unused building.

Twice in one day, cars burned down. In Voznesensk, the engine compartment of a Daewoo Matiz caught fire, but rescuers quickly extinguished the fire, preventing the car from being completely destroyed. The most high-profile incident occurred in Ochakiv, where a car caught fire as a result of an enemy attack with FPV drones. Thanks to the coordinated actions of the rescuers, the fire was quickly extinguished, and there were no casualties.

In total, 96 rescuers, 27 vehicles, employees of the operational coordination center of the State Emergency Service, as well as law enforcement officers and local fire brigades were involved in eliminating all the fires.

Rescuers once again remind people of the need to comply with fire safety rules and urge them to be extremely careful when using heating devices.

On March 13, a fire started from dead wood and spread far beyond residential buildings. The flames spread to the Yelanetsky Steppe nature reserve, destroying 7 hectares of the protected area and another 11 hectares of open space.

On March 9, in the central district of Mykolaiv, while extinguishing a fire in an apartment of a nine-story building, rescuers found the body of a woman born in 1937. And in the village of Velykoserbulivka in the Yelanets community, a passenger bus caught fire while driving.

In early February, a mother and her 14-year-old son were injured due to careless handling of fire. The woman was trying to light the stove using a gas collet aerosol can, which suddenly burst into flames. The 42-year-old mother and her 14-year-old son suffered burns to their faces, upper limbs and abdomen. The victims were hospitalized at Voznesensk Central District Hospital with second-degree burns.
