In Mykolaiv, law enforcement officers exposed two servicemen of the district military commissariat who are suspected of extorting a bribe for removing a conscript from the wanted list. According to the investigation, the defendants promised to resolve the issue without liability for several thousand dollars.

This was reported by the press service of the Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Southern Region.

Law enforcement officers exposed two servicemen of one of the district territorial centers for recruitment and social support in Mykolaiv. They are suspected of extortion and receiving an illegal benefit for "assistance" in removing a person liable for military service from the Oberih search database.

The defendants were served a notice of suspicion of bribery by an official. The investigation established that in February 2026, the driver of the TCC learned about a man who was wanted because of the late update of military registration data. Acting jointly with a staff sergeant and other individuals, who are currently being identified, he offered to "resolve the issue" for money.

The suspects demanded USD 2400 for their services, promising to remove the citizen from the wanted list without bringing him to administrative responsibility.

Law enforcement officers documented the transfer of the first part of the bribe, and the suspects were detained while receiving the second part in March 2026. The court imposed on one of them a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention with an alternative of bail in the amount of UAH 134 thousand. The other was ordered to undergo nightly house arrest.

All persons involved in the scheme are currently being identified and their possible involvement in other offenses is being checked.

Also in March, officers of the State Bureau of Investigation exposed and stopped a scheme to illegally earn money from conscripts. They had problems with military registration documents and were wanted by the TCC and JV in Mykolaiv region.
