Trial to protect MP's dignity begins in Mykolaiv

In Mykolaiv, a trial on the defense of honor and dignity between regional council member Alla Ryazhskikh and former deputy and doctor Svitlana Fedorova has begun. The parties exchanged mutual accusations about the circumstances of the conflict related to the video posted on social media.

In the Ingulsky District Court of Mykolaiv, a preparatory hearing was held in the case of the lawsuit filed by regional council deputy Alla Ryazhskykh against her former colleague Svitlana Fedorova for the protection of honor, dignity and business reputation.

During the hearing, the plaintiff filed a motion to question witnesses - members of the regional council, who, according to Ryazhskykh, were present during the incident and could confirm the circumstances of the events. At the same time, the defendant's representative insisted that the lawsuit was filed in violation of the court fee due to incomplete payment, but after the adjournment, the relevant funds were paid.

The court offered the parties to enter into a settlement agreement, but they refused. The hearing on the merits is scheduled for May 21.

According to the MP, the lawsuit has a moral, political and material component and concerns the video published by Fedorova. She believes that in this video she was unreasonably accused of improper behavior, which damaged her reputation. She also believes that public figures should be responsible for the information they disseminate, and in case of suspected violations, they should contact law enforcement instead of publishing unverified statements.

According to the lawsuit, Ryazhskikh demands compensation in the amount of UAH 100,000, which she plans to donate to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the same time, she believes that the moral damage caused is significant.

Instead, the former deputy stated that she acted as a citizen and recorded the presence of the deputies near the restaurant on the day of the session after receiving requests from residents. According to her version, she filmed not only Ryazhskikh, but all those present, and the incident itself, she said, was recorded on video.

In addition, Fedorova claims that she did not press charges, but only reported the words of the deputy herself. She also expressed her misunderstanding of the claims in the lawsuit and stated that she considered them unfounded.

The former MP explained her absence at the preparatory hearing by being busy at work, noting that her interests were represented by a lawyer. She added that she was ready to answer for her words during the consideration of the case on the merits.

In January last year, Svitlana Fedorova, a member of the regional council from the banned pro-Russian party Nash Krai, announced her resignation from the regional council, explaining that it was unacceptable to work with the current leadership, which, according to her, demonstrates complete inaction, corruption and evasion of mobilization.
