The detention of an armed fugitive in Odesa escalated into a special operation with a shootout that ended with his elimination. The man ignored law enforcement officers' demands to lay down his arms and opened fire, forcing the security forces to act on sight to eliminate the threat.

This was reported by the press service of the National Police in Odesa region.

The man who opened fire on patrol policemen in Odesa died during an arrest operation. According to law enforcement officials, he refused to negotiate, did not respond to calls to surrender, and during the special operation used weapons against the KORD special forces, posing a real threat to their lives. In this regard, the security forces were forced to return fire to neutralize the danger.

It is known that a 45-year-old resident of Odesa was wanted for violating the rules of military registration. While checking his documents, he suddenly pulled out an automatic weapon and started shooting at the police, after which he fled the scene in a car.

A special police operation was promptly launched in the region to detain him. Within a few hours, law enforcement officers identified the suspect's hiding place, which turned out to be an unfinished building. During an attempted negotiation, the man, being on the third floor, opened fire again in the direction of the security forces. In response, the KORD soldiers used their weapons. As a result, the shooter was fatally wounded.

The investigative team is currently working at the scene. The incident was reported to the State Bureau of Investigation and the Prosecutor's Office, which will further establish all the circumstances of the incident.

Also, a video of military alert groups of the territorial center for recruitment and social support pulling the driver of a white Audi out of a car that had been involved in a traffic accident was posted on social media on March 20.

The author of the video claimed that the employees of the TCC deliberately caused a traffic accident to stop the car and used pepper spray to remove the driver from the car, and then took the driver and drove away - in fact, they allegedly fled the scene of the accident.
