Mykolaiv became the first city in Ukraine to implement a large-scale digital audit of the road network using artificial intelligence. The specialists managed to scan and analyze more than 80% of the streets, which allowed them to obtain comprehensive information about the state of the pavement in each area.

This was reported by Mykolaiv Water Hub.

The system has recorded in detail the types of defects, including cracks, potholes, worn-out markings and problematic manholes, which directly affect the safety and comfort of traffic. This initiative allows the city to move away from rough estimates and move towards precise targeted repair planning. Based on the measurements obtained, it is now possible to calculate the amount of materials needed in advance, prepare project documentation, and prioritize work depending on the degree of wear and tear and the strategic importance of the routes.

The analysis paid special attention to the environmental aspect. The study takes into account excessive carbon dioxide emissions caused by the constant braking of vehicles in the destroyed areas, and also models the potential reduction in pollution after normal traffic is restored.

The collected data set will become the basis for future infrastructure transformations, including the implementation of the Health Route project with the German government. In addition, these digital developments will serve as a strong argument for attracting international investment in the systemic development of the urban environment.

Also, Mykolaivvodokanal announces the procurement of road surface rehabilitation services. The company is looking for a contractor to carry out landscaping works in the areas of repairs on city networks. The contractor's task will include preparation of the base (leveling and underlying layers), as well as laying a new asphalt concrete layer on damaged road sections.
