A preparatory hearing has begun in Mykolaiv court in the case of Vira Belyakova, the former acting chief doctor of the Medical Expert Commission, who is suspected of obstructing the activities of the Armed Forces. During the searches, more than 450 thousand dollars were found on her person.

This was reported by MykVisti.

On Friday, September 19, the Central District Court of Mykolaiv held a preparatory hearing in the criminal case of Vira Belyakova, the former acting chief physician of the Mykolaiv Medical and Social Expert Commission (MSEC).

Belyakova is suspected of obstructing the legitimate activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations, which is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 5 to 8 years under Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The case is being considered by Judge Volodymyr Aleynikov.

During the hearing, the suspect's lawyer, Vyacheslav Gribonos, drew the court's attention to the fact that he had filed a motion to change the measure of restraint and asked to leave it in force. The judge replied that the motion was not filed directly during the hearing, so it formally "does not exist".

In addition, the judge asked Belyakova herself whether she pleaded guilty, to which the former official replied that she did not admit guilt. The parties agreed on the date of the next hearing, which will take place in mid-December.

In late October last year, law enforcement officers searched the homes of Vira Belyakova and her son as part of an investigation into a scheme to evade mobilization. During the searches, Belyakova was found to have more than $450,000, jewelry, and three undeclared apartments registered in the name of her son, medical university intern Oleksiy Maksymenko.

According to media reports, no one has been detained or suspected in connection with the searches; the prosecutor's office has only asked the court to seize the seized property.

The Office of the Prosecutor General explained to Slovo and Dilo that the searches were not conducted on the grounds of a corruption crime, but rather on the grounds of obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in accordance with Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code.

A significant amount of cash and valuables was also found in the son's apartment, where a Russian passport was found. In addition, both men received the second group of disability, which entitled them to additional benefits and social payments. In November, Belyakova was notified of suspicion of declaring false information.

In May 2025, the former chief physician of the Mykolaiv Regional Center of the State Medical Examiner's Office, Vira Belyakova, was taken into custody without bail. According to the investigation, back in the summer of 2024, while still in office, she ordered the staff of the regional MSEC to examine the documents of a person liable for military service and issue him a fake examination report.
