The deputy of the occupying “minister” of resorts and tourism in Crimea was sentenced in Ukraine to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property. He voluntarily agreed to work for the illegal authority and still holds this position.
This was reported by the Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol.
According to the prosecutor’s office, in March 2024, a resident of Yalta accepted the occupiers’ offer to join the illegal “government” of Crimea. He was offered the position of so-called deputy minister of resorts and tourism.
He continues to serve in this position to this day. He participates in organizing the work of the pseudo-ministry, handles issues of so-called state oversight in the tourism sector, and conducts inspection visits.
In addition, according to the prosecutor’s office, he performs other tasks necessary for the operation of the illegal body of the occupying authorities.
The court found the man guilty of collaboration under Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
He was sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. The court also barred him for 10 years from:
- hold positions in government bodies;
- work in local government bodies;
- engaging in business activities.
As noted by the prosecutor’s office, last month the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine also imposed personal sanctions on the man.
According to Suspilne, the convicted man is Serhiy Hulyuk.
As Intent recently reported, in Crimea, a judge from the occupying Alushta City Court unlawfully ordered the expulsion of a Ukrainian from the peninsula for refusing to obtain a Russian passport. The judge is now facing charges of unlawful deportation.
