The High Anti-Corruption Court denied the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office’s claim to confiscate the property of the family of a former deputy from the Mykolaiv region.

According to "Slovo i Dilo," the case involves Petro Kuglyar, a former member of the Gorokhiv Village Council in the Bashtanka District.

Previously, a prosecutor from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office filed a lawsuit seeking the confiscation of the former deputy’s assets and those of his family.

The assets in question included a Renault Duster worth over 1 million hryvnias, registered to Petro Kuglyar, as well as an apartment in the city of Stryi, Lviv Oblast, worth 4.4 million hryvnias, owned by his wife.

The SAP argued that an analysis of the former deputy’s and his family members’ income and expenses indicated that these assets could not have been acquired with lawful income.

However, the High Anti-Corruption Court ( VAKS ) denied the SAPO prosecutor’s motion to declare the assets unjustified and to forfeit them to the state.

“To deny the claim filed by the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office against Tetiana Ivanivna Kuglyar and Petro Mykhailovych Kuglyar seeking to declare the assets unjustified and to forfeit them to the state,” the ruling states.

The court also overturned the High Anti-Corruption Court’s ruling of March 13, 2026, issued in connection with this case.

Previously, the court had confiscated a Mercedes-Benz G400 D, valued at 5.65 million hryvnias, which had been used by an official of the Odesa Regional Migration Service, and transferred it to the state. The vehicle was deemed an unjustified asset.

Additionally, following a lawsuit filed by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the High Anti-Corruption Court authorized the confiscation of a 175-square-meter apartment and a parking space in Odesa belonging to Russian oligarch Mikhail Shelkov.
