The High Anti-Corruption Court scheduled a hearing in the case involving false information in an Odesa lawmaker's financial disclosure form

<span><span><span><span><span><span>The High Anti-Corruption Court has scheduled a preliminary hearing in the case involving false statements in a declaration filed by a lawmaker from Odesa. The trial on charges of providing false information will take place on August 25, 2026, in Kyiv.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

The case involves MPYevhen Filonov, who was elected on the ticket of the pro-Russian party “Opposition Platform—For Life,” which is banned in Ukraine and whose faction in the regional council has been dissolved. The deputy took out several loans totaling more than 58 million hryvnias but deliberately concealed these financial obligations in his annual declarations for 2024 and 2025.

The deputy took out the loans as early as 2017 from Yuriy Trubetsky, who subsequently collected the money from him through the courts between 2021 and 2025. At the time the declarations were reviewed,the loanwas still outstanding but had not been declared. Yevhen Filonov provided the NACP with no explanation whatsoever as to why he failed to declare this loan. The same applies to another loan he took out from Yuriy Volkov together with a citizen named Lisovyi. Legal proceedings are also ongoing regarding these loans. 

Previously, the NACP discovered false information totaling over 3 million and inaccuracies regarding property, income, and bank accounts in the 2023 declaration of Yulia Baeva, an official fromOdesa. The audit also found that the value of the declared Audi A3 differed significantly from its market price.

The largest discrepancy concerned a 94.8-square-meter apartment in Odesa, which Baeva and her son actually occupied throughout 2023. The official explained that she did not include the apartment in her declaration because she was not the owner. According to an assessment by the Kyiv Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, as of January 1, 2023, the apartment could have been worth between 3.15 million and 6 million hryvnias.
