The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption has found inaccurate information in the declaration of Yuriy Berezhnyi, acting president of the State Shipping Company Black Sea Shipping Company.

According to the NACP, based on the results of the audit of the president's declaration for 2024, there were discrepancies between the declared data and the real data by UAH 12 million 628.2 million.

In particular, Yuriy Berezhnyi did not indicate in his declaration a loan of UAH 11 million taken out by his wife. He stated that he learned about this loan only when he was preparing an explanation for the NACP regarding the discrepancies. According to him, his wife took out a loan in 2021, purchased real estate, a car, used part of the money for current expenses, and lent the rest to another person. The NACP found out that Yuriy Berezhnyi's wife did indeed purchase 35.6 acres of land and a 141-square-meter house in Luhansk Oblast, a Lexus NX350, and did indeed lend money to a third party - more than UAH 2 million. However, since the NACP did not have any data on the loan repayment, the agency decided that the president should have indicated these financial obligations in his declaration.

Thus, the NACP decided that Yuriy Berezhnyi's actions showed signs of declaring false information. If law enforcement officers initiate any criminal proceedings and Yuriy Berezhnyi is found guilty, he may be fined from six thousand to eight thousand tax-free minimum incomes, or perform community service for a period of one hundred fifty to two hundred forty hours, or restricted in freedom for up to two years, or imprisoned for the same period, with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years.
