A businessman from the Mykolaiv region has been charged with embezzlement and concealment

<span><span><span><span><span><span>In the Mykolaiv region, a contractor who was carrying out routine repairs on the roof of a high school in the city of Pivdennoukrainsk has been notified of charges against him. According to investigators, he embezzled more than 260,000 hryvnias. </span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>According to investigators, while fulfilling the contract, the contractor included knowingly false information regarding the scope and quality of the work in the acceptance reports. Based on these documents, funds were unjustifiably transferred from the budget to the contractor’s account. </span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>The entrepreneur faces 5 to 8 years in prison.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

Earlier, an official from the Capital Construction Department of the Odesa City Council was brought to trial for possible abuse of office during repair and restoration work. According to the investigation, the Odesa budget suffered losses amounting to several million due to the overstatement of the scope and cost of the work performed.

Detectives from the Territorial Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odesa region established that the woman was responsible for technical supervision during the restoration and reinforcement of the foundation of a children’s center. According to investigators, the official knew that some of the work specified in the contract had not actually been performed. Despite this, she signed documents that listed inflated volumes and costs for the work.
