The commander of a Russian special forces unit has been charged with torturing an official in the Kherson region

<span><span><span><span><span><span>The Kherson Prosecutor's Office announced that the commander of the "Vyatich" special-purpose detachment of the Russian National Guard has been charged with cruel treatment of the civilian population. In June 2024, the occupier was already sentenced by a Ukrainian court to 9 years in prison for a similar crime.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>According to the investigation, in April 2022, armed Russian servicemen arrived at the home of the deputy chairman of one of the village councils in the temporarily occupied Henichesk district. They forced a local resident to accompany them to the village council building. There, the suspect and other occupiers coerced the official into cooperating with the occupying authorities and heading the illegally established occupation administration.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>When the man refused, the suspect, along with other servicemen, struck him on the head and torso. Afterward, the civilian was taken to another room in the village council building, where he was unlawfully detained until the morning of the following day.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span> </span></span></span></span></span></span><span><span><span><span><span><span>After his release, fearing for his own life and the safety of his loved ones, the victim was forced to leave his home and flee the temporarily occupied territory.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

Earlier in the Kherson region, an indictment against four local residents was filed with the court. They are accused of conducting business activities in collaboration with the aggressor state. According to the investigation, they ensured the operation of an agricultural enterprise in occupied Kakhovka in accordance with Russian law.
