The Standing Committee on Social Policy and Labor of the Odesa City Council has agreed to submit to the deputies amendments to the program of social services and other types of assistance to vulnerable groups of the population for UAH 126.3 million.

As Olena Kitayska, Director of the Department of Labor and Social Policy, explained at the commission meeting, the changes are necessary due to requests from district administrations that requested an increase in the budget to help city residents affected by the September 30 flood.

"The administrations calculated the expenditures based on the established amount of assistance set for apartment owners in apartment buildings at UAH 87,600, and for private houses up to UAH 198,000," the official explained.

Kyiv district suffered the most, so the administration is asking the city council for an additional UAH 49.9 million. This will increase the expenditures under the program for this district from 3 million to 52 million. Khadzhybey district administration has counted additional expenses of 28.7 million, so its expenditures will increase to 32.7 million. Primorskaya - 9.6 million in addition to the 4 million previously planned. Peresypsk district administration requested 38.1 million hryvnias. They had previously planned to allocate 4 million hryvnias.

The calculations were made based on the results of the survey by the commissions. As for the 100,000 UAH aid, it has already been distributed and has been requested by members of five families of the flood victims. The day before, Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov convened an extraordinary session of the city council on October 8. The storm caused serious damage: flooding of roads, power outages, property damage, and fallen trees. According to the weather service, 94 mm of precipitation fell in Odesa on September 30, more than 220% of the monthly norm for September (42 mm).

Law enforcement officers began inspections and investigations at the offices of Odesa municipality and district administrations as part of criminal proceedings under Article 367, paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (negligence that caused death).
