The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated UAH 718 million to provide transport links to the southwestern part of Odesa region and Moldova.

According to the Government, this decision will make it possible to maintain uninterrupted logistics both within the region and to ensure international transportation of goods and passengers with Moldova and Romania.

It is about providing alternative routes near the bridge in the village of Mayaki, which was damaged at the end of 2025 as a result of Russian shelling.

"We are systematically strengthening alternative routes, both within the region and on international routes to Moldova and Romania. We are talking about freight transportation, people's mobility and stable economic operation," said Oleksiy Kuleba, Vice Prime Minister for Recovery and Minister of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.

A special focus is on restoring and creating backup solutions near the bridge in Mayaky, which was damaged at the end of last year. This will help create additional logistics routes and reduce the vulnerability of critical infrastructure. The decision also refers to the arrangement of a bridge crossing at the Yampil-Koseutz checkpoint in Vinnytsia region.

It provides for the construction of certain infrastructure solutions that will ensure the creation of a backup road connection and strengthen the sustainability of transport and logistics communications not only with Moldova but also in the direction of the ports of the Danube region.

At the end of last year, on December 19, the Odesa Oblast Defense Council suspended the movement of freight transport on the M-15 Odesa-Reni highway due to Russian air attacks and damage to the bridge over the Dniester River near the village of Mayaki.

In the evening of December 18, during an attack in Odesa district, an enemy attack drone hit a bridge connecting settlements in the area of the Dniester estuary and also hit a bridge over the Dniester River near the village of Mayaki. On December 21, traffic restrictions in both directions on the M-15 Odesa-Reni highway (to Bucharest) within the village of Mayaki were lifted.
