The occupying army is deliberately destroying crops in frontline areas—in just one district of the Kherson region alone, Russian shelling has destroyed more than 6,000 hectares of crops, and grain shipments are taking place under constant shelling.
Denis Marchuk, deputy chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council, spoke about this on the DIM TV channel.
“Over 6,000 hectares of crops in the Beryslav district of the Kherson region have been destroyed, and the harvest is being transported under constant shelling,” Marchuk emphasized.
According to him, the situation remains most dire in the frontline regions—the Kherson, Kharkiv, Sumy, and Mykolaiv regions. Russian troops there continue to systematically destroy farmland.
Despite the losses, farmers continue to harvest early grain crops. Ukraine has already harvested over 2 million metric tons of grain.
“The enemy is deliberately trying to destroy the agricultural sector. But farmers, especially in frontline areas, risk not only their equipment but also their own lives every day, because the enemy is openly hunting people with FPV drones,” noted the deputy chairman of the Ukrainian Agrarian Council.
According to him, the forecast for this season is 80–83 million metric tons of grain and oilseed crops. This is sufficient to ensure the country’s food security.
The key task, according to Marchuk, is to provide financial support to farmers who have lost their harvests but still must meet their loan obligations and prepare for the fall planting season.
The Ukrainian Agrarian Council has already appealed to the government with a proposal to secure funding from the European Commission to assist producers in frontline territories.
Earlier, Intent reported that in Brovary, Kyiv Oblast, there are plans to name a street in honor of Hero of Ukraine Oleksandr Gordienko. The farmer from Kherson Oblast was killed in September 2025 when a Russian drone attacked him while he was working in the field.
