In Reni, in the Odesa region, the structure of a grain warehouse collapsed. Two female employees of the company were trapped under the rubble; one of them died in the hospital.

This was reported by Suspilne.Odesa, citing sources in the State Emergency Service and the police.

The collapse occurred around 11:30 a.m. At the scene, rescuers found that structural elements containing grain had collapsed over an area of approximately 150 square meters.

Two women, born in 1977 and 1986, were trapped under the rubble. Rescuers pulled them from under the debris and handed them over to medical personnel. One of the victims, a 40-year-old woman, later died in the hospital from her injuries.

According to police, both women were employees of the company and were at their workplace at the time.

Fifteen rescue workers and five pieces of specialized equipment were deployed to deal with the aftermath of the collapse. Police officers and an emergency medical team were also on the scene.

The cause of the collapse is currently unknown.

Law enforcement officials have entered information regarding the incident into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations under Part 2 of Article 272 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—violation of safety rules while performing high-risk work, if this resulted in the death of people.

Recently, on August 14, Russian occupation forces launched an attack on the Odesa region. As a result of the attack, a warehouse storing grain caught fire in the Odesa district.
