Overnight, Russian troops launched another attack on the Kherson Thermal Power Plant. As a result of the shelling, all heat-generating and power-generating equipment remaining at the facility was completely destroyed.

This was reported by the Naftogaz Group.

It is known that the plant’s territory was struck by four guided aerial bombs (GABs) at once.

“The Russians struck an exclusively civilian facility that provides heat to a significant portion of Kherson’s residential buildings. This attack makes no military sense. Its sole purpose is to terrorize the civilian population and attempt to deprive tens of thousands of Kherson residents of their heat source on the eve of the heating season,” said Serhiy Fedorenko, acting chairman of the Naftogaz board .

Earlier,Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, officially announced—following a meeting of the regional commission on technological and environmental safety and emergencies—that the city’s heating season was at risk of being disrupted.

This concerns the implementation of a project to decentralize the city’sheat supplysystem. If it is not completed on time, more than 500 apartment buildings could be left without heat this winter due to Russian shelling of the centralized system.

In light of this, the Kherson Regional State Administration is preparing a request to the government for funds from the state budget’s reserve fund. The funding is planned to be directed toward implementing the heating decentralization project and completing engineering and technical protection measures for energy facilities.
