On February 6, in the port of Reni, Odesa region, a 34-year-old boatswain fell overboard from a Ukrainian-flagged ship and drowned.

This was reported by Bessarabia INFORM.

According to preliminary information, the incident occurred at around 10:00. The vessel was moored to the pier when the sailor fell into the water. The crew heard his cries for help, but did not have time to save him. In the last moments, the man disappeared under the water, presumably carried away by the current.

Search operations are currently underway, and law enforcement officers are investigating all the circumstances of the tragedy.

At the same time, there were no official comments from the press services of the State Emergency Service and the National Police.

Meanwhile, on February 9, a funeral service will be held in Pivdenne, Odesa region, for seaport worker Serhiy Maistrenko, who died on February 5 as a result of a Russian army missile strike on the city's civilian infrastructure. Serhiy Maistrenko, born in 1985, worked as a mechanic at the Pivdennyi port. In addition, he was a participant in hostilities: from March 2022 to January 2023, he served as a driver of the engineering reconnaissance unit of the engineering support group of the 28th separate mechanized brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign, where he courageously fought to defend Ukraine.

On February 5, a woman and a child fell out of the window of the 16th floor of a multi-storey building in Kyiv district of Odesa. According to law enforcement, the woman died on the spot from her injuries. The girl was hospitalized in serious condition, but could not be saved. The child was 9 years old, her mother was 37.

Investigators registered the case in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: intentional murder of a minor child (Article 115, Part 2, Clause 2) and intentional murder with the note "suicide" (Article 115, Part 1).

To establish the exact cause of death, the bodies of the deceased woman and child will be sent for forensic examination. Law enforcement officers are currently investigating all the circumstances of the tragedy.
