Vladimir Komarov, former director of the Masks Theater, dies

Actor, comedian, longtime participant of the Mask Show, and musician Vladimir Komarov died on March 29.

This was reported by the Masks Theater .

"On March 29, Vladimir Komarov followed Veselka Komarik, Vovka, and Veselka. Fantastically talented, God-kissed, positive, kind, charismatic, real... There are simply no words... The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 1, at the Panteleimon Monastery, 66 Panteleimonivska Street," the theater wrote on its Facebook page.

Volodymyr Komarov was born on February 29, 1964, in the Kirovohrad region, but his family soon moved to Odesa. At school, he started practicing pantomime. After graduating from high school #18, he entered the Odesa Institute of Food Industry where he studied for one semester. For the next three years he served as a sailor in the Northern Fleet.

From 1985 to 1987, he worked as an actor in the Masks pantomime and clown ensemble at the Odesa Regional Philharmonic. From 1987 to 1989, he was an actor at the Kyiv Variety Theater "Sharge". In 1989, he returned to the Masks, starred in TV series, feature films, and performed on stage until 2002. At the end of 2002, Vladimir Komarov finally left the Masks comedy troupe and created the comedy duo Odekolon together with Alexey Agopyan.

In 2005, he founded the musical group Dr. BrMental, in which he is still the lead singer. Since 2018, he has performed with Boris Barskykh as an actor in the play Mozart and Solieri.

Earlier, the cinematographer, People's Artist of Ukraine, director of the Odesa Film Studio, Willen Novak, died on March 29. His last directorial work was a film about Mariupol during World War II, Why I'm Alive, based on real events.
