Russian troops destroyed the Sputnik radio club in Kherson, which had been operating since 1979. The building was completely destroyed as a result of a targeted attack.

This was reported by its head and founder Oleksandr Bala on Facebook.

"The Sputnik radio club (UR6GWZ) is no more. 47 years of my life went up in smoke. Damn you, Russian bastards. You took away a happy childhood from my children. May you burn in hell forever. I can't find words," he wrote.

In 1979, a sports and technical radio club, Sputnik, was created on the basis of the radio station in Kherson and became part of the city's Center for Extracurricular Activities. The club had four collective radio stations: UR6GWZ, UR6GZR, UR6GWX, UR9GWR, and was known for the unique radio communication training system developed there.

Between August 31 and September 1, 2025, 38 settlements in the Kherson region were hit by Russian drones and artillery. Among them are Bilozerka, Beryslav, Kozatske, Antonivka, Stanislav, Shyroka Balka, Zmiivka, and Kherson.

The occupiers shelled residential areas, critical and social infrastructure facilities. The attacks damaged four multi-storey buildings and 14 private houses, as well as outbuildings, a garage and several cars. The shelling killed one person and injured 13 others.

The day before, on August 30, a guided aerial bomb hit the area of the railway station, destroying a non-residential two-story building. Around six in the morning on August 31, Bilozerka came under fire, where a 56-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man suffered mine-blast injuries and contusions.
