In Kherson region, a court in absentia sentenced a local resident to 13 years in prison for collaborating with the occupation authorities.

According to the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, the woman was found guilty of collaboration. In addition to imprisonment, she was sentenced to confiscation of property and a 15-year ban on holding positions in government, law enforcement agencies, and engaging in activities related to the provision of public services.

The investigation proved that in July 2022, she voluntarily joined the illegally created occupation body, the so-called "migration service" in Kherson, controlled by the Russian Federation.

As a "specialist of the passport and visa department," the woman prepared documents for issuing Russian passports, identified persons and translated Ukrainian documents for further obtaining Russian citizenship.

The investigation was conducted by the SBU.

The sentence was passed in absentia. The actual serving of the sentence will begin after the convict's detention.

As Intent previously wrote, five members of an organized group accused of "nationalizing" property in favor of the occupation authorities for more than UAH 100 million will be tried in Kherson region.

In addition, 47-year-old Oleksandr Babych, a native of the village of Kalanchak, Skadovsk district, Kherson region, was sentenced in absentia to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property for collaboration. The sentence was passed by the Velyko Oleksandrivskyi District Court on March 11, 2026.

Also, Viktor Syrota, former secretary of the Oleshky City Council of Kherson Oblast, was found guilty of collaborating with the Russian occupation administrations. The court sentenced him to nine years in prison with confiscation of property.

As a reminder, prosecutors of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office sent indictments to the court against two residents of the region on the fact of voluntary election to illegal authorities.
