The first deputy chairman of the Kherson Regional Council, a member of the Servant of the People party, Yuriy Sobolevsky, declared a car used by his wife following a journalist investigation.

According to Radio Liberty, in his declaration for 2025, the official noted that his wife Olena Sobolevska has been using a 2020 Volkswagen Touareg SUV since January 1. The car is registered in her father's name and is used free of charge.

Earlier, Schema journalists found out that the family has been using this car since at least 2023. Photos and videos of the official's wife driving the car were regularly posted on social media. It was also recorded that she received a fine for violating traffic rules while driving this car.

Yuriy Sobolevsky himself previously explained that he did not declare the car because his wife used it "sporadically." After the investigation was released, he said that he decided to include the car in the declaration because its use had become more frequent and "it is better to declare it now than to count the days later."

At the same time, journalists drew attention to the origin of the car itself. According to them, the official income of the official's father-in-law would not have allowed him to purchase a car worth more than UAH 2 million at the time of purchase.

In addition, the investigation raised the issue of Sobolevsky's own savings. In particular, in 2019, he declared significant amounts - tens of thousands of dollars and euros, as well as about a million hryvnias - without reflecting these funds in his wife's previous declarations.

The official explained that this money was earned during his legal practice, and his wife indicated the information "according to his words."

Earlier, Intent wrote that Deputy Chairman of the Kherson Regional Council Yuriy Sobolevsky resigned as the head of the regional branch of the Servant of the People political party and withdrew from its membership.
