Servant of the people from Kherson declared millions of unknown origin

(COLLAGE: Schemes)

The first deputy head of the Kherson regional council and a member of the Servant of the People party Yuriy Sobolevsky, whose official salary is about 60 thousand per month, declared several million, the origin of which he could not explain.

This was reported by Schemes.

The journalists paid attention to the social media pages of his daughter, a student at Kyiv University and an assistant to a member of parliament. In photos and videos, she regularly demonstrates trips abroad, in particular to France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Turkey and Dubai.

Some of the footage shows the official's wife driving an expensive car. This car is not listed in Sobolevsky's declarations. According to the investigation, neither his wife nor daughter have any official sources of income.

Yuriy Sobolevsky has been a member of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's team since 2019. During the presidential campaign, he headed the ZeCommand in Kherson region and was a public representative of the headquarters in the region. Zelenskyy appointed him as his representative in Kherson region, Crimea, and Sevastopol.

After Zelenskyi's victory, Sobolevskyi left Kherson and moved to Kropyvnytskyi, where he became an adviser to the then head of the Kirovohrad Regional State Administration, Andrii Balon. The latter had a connection with the deputy head of the Presidential Office, Oleh Tatarov, as they worked together in the Interior Ministry.

At that time, Sobolevsky also headed a department in the Main Department of the State Geocadastre of Kirovohrad Oblast and applied for the leadership position of the entire department, but did not pass the competition.

He did not stay in office for long: in 2020, the NABU and the SAPO detained the head of the Kirovohrad Regional State Administration, Andriy Balon, for taking a bribe. After that, Sobolevsky returned to Kherson.

Journalists analyzed Sobolevsky's declarations and found a sharp increase in his wealth in 2019 without explaining the sources of the funds.

For the first time, significant savings appeared in the 2019 declaration - 50 thousand dollars, 40 thousand euros and almost one million hryvnias in cash. In the previous year, the family did not declare such money: in the declaration of Sobolevsky's wife, who was a civil servant at the National Financial Services Commission at the time, the amount of the couple's joint savings was only about 230 thousand hryvnias.

In addition, in the same year of 2019, Sobolevsky declared the acquisition of property rights to an apartment in one of Kyiv's residential complexes worth over UAH 600,000, as well as additional expenses of UAH 300,000.

According to journalists, the Sobolevsky family increased their wealth by more than three and a half million hryvnias in just one year without explaining the origin of the funds.
