Ukrainian Air Defense Destroys 600 Enemy Targets in Night Combat

On the night of August 28, Russia launched a powerful massive attack on Ukraine, using hundreds of drones and missiles of various types. The attack resulted in civilian casualties, including children, and the defense forces destroyed most of the enemy targets.

This was reported by the press service of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On the night of August 28, Ukraine suffered a powerful massive air strike. The enemy used drones and missiles of various types, with a total of about 629 airborne attack vehicles involved. In particular, these include 598 Shahed attack drones and imitators, 2 X-47M2 Kinzhal aerial ballistic missiles, 9 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles and 20 X-101 cruise missiles from the territory of the Russian Federation and the temporarily occupied Crimea.

The Ukrainian defense forces, including aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and mobile fire groups, repelled the attack. As of 09:00, the air defense destroyed or suppressed 589 air targets: 563 Shahed drones, 1 Kinzhal, 7 Iskander missiles and 18 X-101s. The strikes occurred in 13 locations, and the wreckage of the downed vehicles fell in 26 locations.

According to preliminary reports, civilians, including children, were among the victims.

According to the press service of the Mykolaiv Regional Military District, on the night of August 28, Mykolaiv regional air defense forces shot down and suppressed eight enemy UAVs.

On August 27, the enemy attacked the city of Ochakiv and the waters of the Ochakiv community four times with FPV drones, with no casualties. On the same day, at 13:00, the enemy attacked the Kutsurub community with an FPV drone and at 13:30, they fired artillery, no casualties were reported. Also on August 27, the enemy fired twice at Halytsynivka community with FPV drones, damaging two private houses in Lupareve village.

According to Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of the Kherson Military District Administration, 11 private houses were damaged as a result of Russian attacks. The occupants also destroyed a gas distribution station, a cell tower and several cars. Four people were killed and five others were injured in the shelling.

On the night of August 20, Russian troops attacked the Izmail district using drones. The strikes damaged port infrastructure, and a large-scale fire broke out at one of the fuel and energy facilities.
