In Mykolaiv, police detained a 29-year-old local resident who was involved in arms and ammunition trafficking. The special operation was conducted by investigators of the Mykolaiv District Department together with the Criminal Investigation Department and Special Forces officers. The man was detained immediately after selling the arsenal.

This was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.

During the arrest, law enforcement officers seized two grenades with fuses and 59 rounds of ammunition for automatic weapons. In addition, they found drugs and money obtained from the illegal transaction. All the evidence was sent for expert examination.

Under the procedural supervision of the Mykolaiv District Prosecutor's Office, the man was served a notice of suspicion of illegal handling of weapons and ammunition. Separate proceedings were initiated over the possession of narcotic substances.

The court has already imposed a pre-trial restraint on the detainee - custody with the right to be released on bail. If proven guilty, the Mykolaiv resident faces up to seven years in prison. The investigation continues to find out where the suspect obtained the weapons for sale.

In particular, the Security Service of Ukraine and the Prosecutor's Office served a notice of suspicion to a local businessman who illegally seized components for shipboard artillery systems worth almost $1.5 million.

The offender illegally seized the weapons during a full-scale war and was going to ship them to Russia. The weapons in question are various types of artillery systems, including six-barreled AO-18 assault rifles and AK-176M universal mounts. These weapons are used on ships to engage high-speed targets at short distances, including enemy drones and cruise missiles.

To covertly export the scarce combat systems, the entrepreneur placed them in specially made containers that looked like water heaters.
