On Wednesday, June 4, the Verkhovna Rada approved in the first reading a draft law on voluntary mobilization of men over 60 years of age.

According to Oleksiy Honcharenko , a member of the European Solidarity party , the document will allow citizens aged 60 and older to serve in the Defense Forces under a one-year contract.

"Such categories of citizens will be able to mobilize at their own will and subject to health conditions," the politician added.

Roman Kostenko, MP, Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, Colonel of the Security Service of Ukraine, noted that the draft law "60+" was adopted as a basis for military personnel and volunteers who have reached the age of 60.

"Now we will finalize it for the second reading, and then they will be able to voluntarily help the Armed Forces," Kostenko said.

In early May, Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov signed a decree appointing Andriy Gerasymenko as director of the Department for Mobilization Training, Military Records and Defense Work of the Odesa City Council. Later, he changed the distribution of his duties and those of his deputies and members of the executive committee of the Odesa City Council, appointing himself as the supervisor of the mobilization department.

Earlier in an interview with Intent.Insight, the brigade's combat officer Oleh Zakharkiv spoke about the peculiarities of formation, service, training, gender balance and recruitment. Oleh Zakharkiv explained that already at the stage of passing the preliminary medical examination, a future serviceman agrees with a recruiter on a specific position he wants to take. The recruiter advises the person, explains the possibilities, helps them choose a direction and accompanies them throughout the process.
