Judges of the Prymorskyi District Court of Odesa refused to satisfy the request of the lawyers of the former head of the Odesa Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support, Yevhen Borysov, to remove his electronic bracelet.

The lawyers tried to convince the judges that the bracelet caused skin problems in the former military officer, Suspilne reported.

Instead, the prosecutor noted that the risks that led to the use of electronic control remained relevant. Also, according to him, the defense did not ask to change the way the bracelet was worn, which could partially solve the problem.

After that, the defense lawyers challenged the prosecutor, emphasizing his bias and lack of understanding of the rules of criminal procedure. The prosecutor objected and called the motion unfounded.

Subsequently, the court proceeded to consider materials containing information about Yevhen Borisov's health. At this point, the journalists were asked to leave the courtroom.

Later, the defense filed a motion to recuse the presiding judge. The defense lawyers believe that the judge is acting biased, in particular because of previous decisions to extend the obligation to wear an electronic bracelet despite the medical documents provided.

In particular, the defense mentioned Borysov's injury in 2022: according to the lawyers, the former military commander suffered injuries to both shins due to shots fired from a firearm.

The court decided to transfer the application for recusal of the judge to another judge by automated distribution. The date of the next hearing will be determined after that. Prymorskyi District Court of Odesa is considering the case of unauthorized abandonment of the place of service by former Odesa regional military commissar Yevhen Borysov.

On February 9, the Prymorskyi District Court of Odesa began consideration of the case, and before that the court decided to merge two criminal proceedings against Yevhen Borysov into one case. The case is about unauthorized leaving of military service and obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was also left with only one bail - in the amount of 44 million hryvnias.

In January 2026, the Prymorskyi District Court of Odesa decided to cancel the bail measure imposed on the former head of the Odesa Regional Territorial Center for Manning and Social Support, Yevhen Borysov, and return 20 million to those who had contributed the funds.
