Odesa writer and playwright Serhiy Steblynenko died on February 23.
The writer's son, Viktor Steblynenko, informed the editorial office.
"Given the tragedy with my mother and his health condition, my father's heart could not stand it. My father was a non-standard person, a creative person, an intellectual, a humorist and always a cheerful person. My parents have always been like lovebirds together, supporting each other and unable to be apart," he said.
Serhiy Steblynenko is the author of books and plays, and was an entrepreneur.
"He undoubtedly loved life, humor, Ukraine and Odesa, had a clear and principled pro-Ukrainian patriotic position, was happy for my success and always proudly told his friends and family about me, although I said 'no dad, no,'" said Viktor Steblynenko.
Serhiy Steblynenko graduated from the Odesa Institute of Marine Engineers and worked at a ship repair plant. In 2002, he published his first book, Tales of an Old Boatswain, which he gave away to his friends without selling a single copy. In 2005, he began writing for television. He became the author of the script for the feature-length comedy Sveta from the Other Side, the comedy series Johan da Marja, and the Ukrainian political humor program Pupsnia. In 2013, he created the play Jewish Happiness, in 2014 - the tragicomedy A Warm Six-Letter Jacket, and in 2015 - the absurdist play Phobias and the comedy Kosher Gin. In 2016, in collaboration with Yevhen Zhenin, he wrote the plays A Redeemer from Ledyk and Somewhere on the Big Fountain.
Winner of the GLORIA International Association of Literary and Artistic Workers (Germany) Prize for the short story "Couturier Biberman" in 2015.
