Odesa region is among the top five leaders in Ukraine in terms of the number of medical companies

Currently, there are almost 44 thousand medical licenses in Ukraine, most of which are issued to doctors who have the status of individual entrepreneurs. Odesa region is among the top five regions in terms of the number of active medical companies licensed by the Ministry of Health.

This is evidenced by data from the monitoring service Opendatabot.

There are currently about 44 thousand valid medical licenses in Ukraine. The majority of them - 67% - are issued to doctors and specialists working independently, including mainly dentists, as well as nursing and ultrasound specialists.

In addition to private medical practitioners, more than 14,300 licenses are held by companies and clinics, but about 14% of such institutions are either liquidated or in the process of bankruptcy; more than 12,300 remain actually active. The largest number of private physicians-sole proprietors is in Kyiv - 2,600, while Kherson and Mykolaiv regions have the fewest licenses. Among the licensed companies, Odesa region is among the top five with 679 operating facilities.

Among private healthcare companies, the largest number of licenses were obtained by nursing facilities (84%) and healthcare management (82%), while therapy, therapeutic dentistry, and ultrasound diagnostics cover about 30% of licenses. Each license can cover several areas of activity at the same time.

Patients can check the validity of a doctor's, clinic's or company's license through the License Register of the Ministry of Health, which also contains data on individual entrepreneurs and legal entities.

At the same time, in 2025, Odesa region was ranked fourth in Ukraine in terms of the number of individual entrepreneurs who ceased operations. In total, 18,714 sole proprietorships closed inOdesa region in 11 months of 2025. For comparison, in Mykolaiv region, the number was 7,473, and in Kherson region, 3,758.
