Occupants in Crimea start checking cell phones of schoolchildren

(COLLAGE: Fine City)

In Crimea, the occupation authorities, together with the Russian military, have started massive checks of students' and teachers' cell phones in search of 'banned' applications and the Ukrainian language. The checks were recorded by activists in Simferopol and Sevastopol.

This was reported by Krym.Realii.

Activists of the<b>'</b> Yellow Ribbon' movement reported that in September, schoolchildren's mobile phones were checked in educational institutions of Simferopol. The occupation administration explains such actions by the fact that parents allegedly do not control their children.

In particular, according to the occupiers, YouTube, VPN services and the music service Spotify are among the 'dangerous' applications. The activists note that it is currently unknown whether these checks are a pilot project or apply to all schools in the city.

At the same time, inspections in Sevastopol have become more stringent. Activists of the 'Zlaya Mavka' movement reported that the Russian military organized a real search of gadgets in Sevastopol's school #37. According to the report, the military checks the personal phones of children and teachers, paying special attention to the presence of the Ukrainian layout or language in the settings. If Ukrainian is found in the phone, it becomes a direct reason for additional checks, calls for a conversation and psychological pressure.

So far, there has been no information about inspections in other schools and no official statements from the occupation administration of Crimea regarding the introduction of these rules.

Earlier, at the fourth International Forum of the Crimean Platform, the fate of more than 200 political prisoners in Crimea and abducted children was discussed. The participants emphasized the need for their release and Russia's responsibility for war crimes.
