In Mykolaiv region, a court found an underage schoolgirl guilty of torturing another girl over a long-running conflict and jealousy. After the attack, the victim suffered a psychological trauma and was treated for post-traumatic stress disorder.

This was reported by Intent with reference to the verdict of the Pervomaisk City District Court.

The court found the minor student of a local lyceum guilty of torturing another minor girl. The incident took place on May 31, 2024, near an apartment building in Pervomaisk, but the verdict in the case was announced on May 14, 2026.

According to the case file, the conflict between the teenagers arose out of a long-standing dislike, insults and communication between the victim and the boyfriend of one of the participants in the events. On the day of the attack, the accused and two girls met the victim behind a residential building.

The investigation established that the attack was not spontaneous, but deliberate. The girl, acting intentionally, began humiliating the victim: pulling her hair, hitting her head with her hands, throwing her down the stairs, spitting in her face and kicking her in the head. All this happened while the victim was sitting on the stairs, trying to cover her head with her hands and crying in fear and pain.

In court, the accused fully admitted her guilt and confirmed the circumstances described. She stated that she was sincerely sorry and apologized to the victim.

One of the key pieces of evidence in the case was a 49-second video recording, which law enforcement officers attached to the case file. The recording shows the parties to the conflict beating the girl, pulling her hair, swearing, and continuing to abuse her even after she was on the stairs. The video also showed that other participants in the incident were involved in the attack.

A forensic psychiatric examination confirmed that the victim suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder after the incident. Experts established a causal link between the psychological trauma and the beating. The girl complained of anxiety, insomnia, depression, irritability and was forced to undergo psychological counseling.

The court took into account that the accused was a minor, studying in the 11th grade, playing sports and being positively characterized at her place of study. The circumstances that mitigated the punishment were her age, full admission of guilt and sincere remorse.

The court sentenced the girl to one year of probationary supervision instead of the more severe punishment provided for in the article on torture. In addition, the court ordered the defendant to pay UAH 3160 in material damage and UAH 100,000 in non-pecuniary compensation. If the minor does not have enough money or property to make the payments, her parents will be responsible.

As Intent wrote, the video of this incident was accidentally discovered by an inspector of the educational security service in January 2025. The case was classified as "torture," which provided for 5 to 10 years in prison.
