In the occupied village of Khorly in Kherson region, a drone strike destroyed a cafe and a hotel, resulting in fatalities. The head of the occupiers' police department was among the dead.

This was reported by journalist Denis Kazansky.

As a result of a drone strike on a cafe in the temporarily occupied village of Khorly in Kherson region, the head of the so-called Kalanchak police department, Serhiy Bogan, was killed.

Khorly has been under Russian occupation since 2022 and is actually used as a military base. Russian troops are permanently stationed here, former recreation centers have been converted to accommodate personnel and deploy equipment, and in 2024 the village became a place for shooting and assault exercises.

The occupiers are actively repairing roads for the movement of equipment, setting up checkpoints, and using the surrounding areas for military purposes. Due to the occupation, the population of Khorly has decreased by about three times, and the beaches remain empty.

The attack on the cafe and hotel took place on the night of January 1, 2026. The occupation authorities claimed that local residents were allegedly celebrating the New Year in these establishments.

According to the Center for Investigative Journalism, Bogan is a native of Yalta, worked for many years in the structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Crimea and headed one of the criminal investigation departments.

After the Russian occupation of Crimea began in 2014, he joined the occupiers as a police officer. After Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, he worked in the Genichesk unit of the occupation police in Kherson region.

By the fall of 2024, he headed the occupation police department "Kalanchakske" in the village of Kalanchak, Skadovsk district. In November of the same year, he met with students of a local school; occupation publics noted that he had the rank of lieutenant colonel. He is associated with abductions and torture of people in Skadovsk district.

According to occupation publics, as of December 2025, he was still the head of the Kalanchak police. His wife, Yulia Bohan, currently works as the deputy governor of Nova Kakhovka.

In late October, Ukrainian intelligence killed Lieutenant Marzoyev and his subordinates during a strike on a drone operator's position in the Zaporizhzhia sector. He turned out to be the son of a general involved in war crimes in Kherson.
