The Security Service of Ukraine and the police detained a leading specialist of the mobilization accounting department of one of the departments of the Odesa District Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support in Odesa.
According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa region, law enforcement officers found out that the serviceman demanded a bribe from a man who was liable for military service and had asked him for advice.
In exchange for UAH 25 thousand, he promised to influence unidentified persons to remove him from the "Wanted" database, as well as to ensure unimpeded passage of the military medical commission and recognition of him unfit for service for health reasons.
In the course of the investigative and operational actions, law enforcement officers documented the receipt of the bribe in several tranches. After receiving the entire amount of money, the military officer was detained. He was served a notice of suspicion of receiving a bribe to influence decision-making, combined with extortion.
If found guilty, the military officer faces imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with confiscation of property.
In August, an officer of the recruitment and manning department of one of the departments of the Odesa District Territorial Center for Manning and Social Support, who demanded and received an undue benefit for the secret removal of a mobilized man from a training center. According to the investigation, the official, acting in collusion with currently unidentified persons, demanded an undue advantage in the amount of USD 10 thousand from a representative of a mobilized man who is serving in another region. In exchange for this money, he promised to organize employees of the RTC and the JV to secretly take the serviceman out of the training center during the transportation of mobilized persons and, bypassing checkpoints, bring him to Odesa for further evasion of military service.
