The Krasnosilsk Village Council in Odesa Oblast has decided to recycle biological waste into fertilizers.

This was reported by the head of the community, Maryna Arkiriy.

She called on residents of the villages of Krasnosilka, Ilichanka, Korsuntsi, Kubanka, Novokubanka, Peremozhne, Ivanovo, Pavlynka, Bukachi, Vasylivka, Lizynka, Novi Shompoly, Sozonivka, and Shamanivka to join the collection and recycling of organic waste.

This project is part of a strategy to streamline biowaste management at the local level. The village council is conducting a survey of residents until March 15 to make the collection and recycling process more convenient and efficient.

According to Maryna Arkhiriy, participation in the project will allow residents to produce valuable fertilizers on their own, reduce the amount of garbage in the villages, and receive free compost bins for grass, leaves, and branches.

Meanwhile, a large-scale eco-project is being prepared in Podilsk, in the north of Odesa Oblast. The city was visited by investors from Turkey, representatives of MRZ Consulting, who are considering building a waste processing plant in the region.

Recently, it became known that the Swedish government excluded Odesa from the cities selected as pilot territorial communities to participate in a Swedish government project to reform the national waste management system in accordance with European standards.

After that, Deputy Mayor of Odesa Hanna Pozdnyakova said that the responsibility for Odesa's exclusion from the international program of reforming the waste management system lies with the Department of Ecology of the Odesa Regional State Administration.

On February 5, members of the city council appealed to the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, on this issue.

Meanwhile, the Center for Public Investigations tried to find out how the idea of creating a waste processing plant in Odesa is progressing. The journalists went to the Dalnytsia Quarries landfill and made an investigative film about it.
