In Odesa, a man was arrested for trying to "sell" his employment with the SBU for $30,000. The court left him in custody with the possibility of bail.

This is evidenced by the decision of the Kyiv District Court of Odesa.

Law enforcement officers exposed a 38-year-old Odesa resident who extorted $30,000 from a local resident for allegedly helping him get a job with the Security Service of Ukraine. In return for this money, the offender promised to use his connections in the leadership of the special service and to arrange a job for the candidate in the special unit of the Central Security Service "A".

According to the investigation, in May 2025, the suspect offered his services, assuring that he had influence on SBU officials and could "solve issues" for a certain amount of money. The victim agreed to the terms, but turned to law enforcement. Further events took place under the control of operatives.

In October, the man received the first part of the bribe - $10,000 - near a house on Akademika Harkova Street in Odesa. After that, he demanded another 5 thousand, claiming that the "registration" procedure was almost complete.

During the controlled transfer of funds, he was detained by police and the SBU. During the search, they seized the money and the cell phones he used to communicate with the applicant.

The offender was served a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 369-2 of the Criminal Code - abuse of influence committed repeatedly or by prior conspiracy by a group of persons. The court imposed on him a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention until December 1, 2025.

At the same time, the court determined an alternative - bail in excess of UAH 3 million. If bail is granted, the suspect will be obliged to appear before the investigator, not to communicate with witnesses, and not to leave Odesa without a court order.

In September, a court in Odesa considered the case of a local resident who organized the clandestine production of fake SBU IDs. For $700, he sold the fake documents to conscripts so that they could move freely around the country and avoid mobilization.
