The vice mayor of Pivdenne and an official of the city council in Odesa district will be tried for extortion. Law enforcement officers have already sent an indictment against him to court.

This was reported by the press service of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to the investigation, the man temporarily held two positions at once - vice mayor of Pivdenne and head of the housing and communal services department. Using his position, he demanded a bribe from a representative of a condominium for assistance in organizing the improvement of the adjacent territory. The official promised that after the transfer of funds, the utility company would quickly complete the work and engage equipment.

We are talking about Volodymyr Senyk, a former MP from the OPFL from Kherson region, who previously managed the trolleybus depot of Odesmiskelektrotrans and worked as a deputy director of Khmelnytskyi Housing and Communal Services.

Law enforcement detained the former official in early July. He demanded UAH 10,000 in bribes for cutting bushes and trees, removing garbage and other work near a residential building, threatening that if he refused, the city's utilities would not provide any services to the condominium. The court imposed on him a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention with the possibility of bail in the amount of UAH 242,240.

According to the law, the official faces punishment under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - 5 to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.

As Intent previously reported, Volodymyr Senyk took up the position of acting deputy mayor and head of the housing and communal services department of Pivdenne in Odesa region in February 2025.

Earlier, in 2015, he ran for the Kherson City Council from the Opposition Bloc and was elected to the Dniprovskyi District Council of Kherson from the same party. In 2020, Senyk became a deputy of the Kherson district and regional councils from the OPFL. In March, he resigned his seat early.
