In Mykolaiv, there are plans to dismantle five shade structures and a gazebo on the grounds of Preschool No. 65. This is necessary for the construction of a radiation shelter.

The corresponding draft resolution was supported by the Mykolaiv City Council’s standing committee on health care, social protection, education, culture, tourism, youth, and sports.

During the meeting, representatives of the Department of Education explained that the structures are located directly within the future construction zone, so they must be removed from the school’s balance sheet and dismantled.

According to officials, construction of the shelter is already moving into the practical phase. A tripartite agreement for the work has been signed, and the contractor is expected to begin earthwork in the near future.

During the discussion, commission members noted that the installation of new shelters in educational institutions is a necessary measure dictated by the security situation. At the same time, the deputies expressed hope that such structures would never have to be used for their intended purpose.

Following the discussion, the commission endorsed the draft resolution on the write-off of assets. The final decision on this matter is to be adopted by the deputies of the Mykolaiv City Council at a plenary session.

Recently, local authorities in Mykolaiv selected the contractor to build a radiation shelter for Kindergarten No. 126—a contract worth over 98 million hryvnias was awarded to a firm that regularly wins city tenders.

Only one bidder participated in the tender: ITC “Mykolaivbud” LLC. The company offered 98,049,097.44 hryvnias, including VAT, and this amount remained unchanged.

The contract was signed on July 10. The work is scheduled to be completed by December 30, 2027.

Previously, inspections of basic shelters in Mykolaiv revealed a number of serious violations. Among them were the dilapidated condition of one of the facilities, a lack of accessibility for people with limited mobility, and the absence of fire extinguishing equipment.
