From premium electric cars to trucks: what Mykolaiv city council members drove

The car fleets of individual MPs are impressive not only in terms of quantity but also in terms of diversity - from luxury SUVs and premium electric cars to motorcycles, trucks and trailers. Dozens of vehicles appear in the declarations, and some of them are registered not to the MPs themselves, but to their family members.

TheCenter for Public Investigations and Intent analyzed the declarations of 48 MPs for 2025.

Mykola Kapatsyna has the largest number of vehicles among his declared assets. His declaration lists 21 vehicles, 18 of which are his personal property. The MP's vehicles include two motorcycles made in 2016, a Kawasaki Vulkan and an Indian, a 2012 Jaguar XK SUV, and several Audi cars. Three more vehicles are registered to family members.

Olena Kiselyova is in second place, having declared nine vehicles. However, in her case, the bulk of the vehicle fleet belongs to her family, not to her: seven vehicles are registered in the names of her relatives, while the MP personally owns only two. The declaration lists a ZAZ 110307 made in 2000, a Chevrolet Aveo made in 2007, and a SAZ 3507 truck, which is a rather unusual vehicle asset for local government representatives.

The same number of vehicles - nine - was declared by Andrii Turitsa. Six of them are his personal property. The list of main vehicles includes a 2013 Toyota Land Cruiser 200, a 2016 Toyota Proace, and a 2016 VAZ 212140. The rest of the vehicles are registered to family members.

The fourth position in terms of the number of vehicles is occupied by Dmytro Ivanov. His declaration lists four vehicles, but only one of them is registered directly to him - a 2018 Land Rover Discovery Sport. Other vehicles, including a 2010 Land Rover Discovery and a Renault, belong to his relatives.

The top five also includes Dmytro Falko with four declared vehicles. Three of them are registered to him personally: a 2012 Mercedes-Benz S 500L executive car, a 2009 Thiel R563 trailer, and a Toyota C-HR Hybrid. Another vehicle is owned by family members.

Some declarations also contain less typical or newer models of vehicles. For example, Oleh Afanasiev declared a 2018 BMW X3 and a 2024 DENZA Z9GT, a premium electric car made in China. Ruslan Moskalenko declared a 2012 BMW R1200GS motorcycle, a 2014 Toyota Venza, and a modern BYD Song Plus EV 2025 electric car.

Also, while some mayors of Mykolaiv region remained faithful to Soviet rarities for symbolic money, their family fleets are filled with luxury crossovers. The cars are often registered to their wives, while the officials themselves officially own only trailers or old trucks.
