Film producer Dmytro Grokhovsky has passed away in Odesa. He devoted almost two decades to preserving the Odesa Film Studio.

This was reported by journalist and writer Victoria Koltunova.

She recalled Grokhovsky as one of the most decent and pure of hearts who devoted themselves to saving the Odesa Film Studio. According to her, for the past 18 years, he has been actively working to preserve the studio, organizing people and lawyers, spending his own money and thoroughly studying the legislation on corporatization. Thanks to his efforts, two criminal cases were opened against the illegal privatization of the studio.

"Dima was the core of our group of 'rescuers', the driver and the main organizer," Koltunova wrote.

She noted that only two weeks ago they had discussed his visit to the investigator, and he was full of strength and determination. Suddenly, Grokhovsky disappeared from the communication, and later reported that he was ill. Koltunova emphasized that with Grokhovsky, the world of cinema lost not only a talented producer, but also a sincere, brave and honest defender of the iconic Odesa Feature Film Studio.

Last year, the Odesa Film Studio suffered losses due to ineffective management and inaction of its shareholders and was threatened with closure. These conclusions were made public by experts of the Southern Office of the State Audit Service of Ukraine based on the results of an audit of the company's financial activities.

The auditors found that over the past five years, due to ineffective management decisions, the studio lost revenue and incurred unnecessary expenses of more than UAH 400 million.

The Odesa Film Studio called this amount "manipulative" and emphasized that the actual violations are important. According to them, the audit recorded only two violations for about UAH 1 million, which were eliminated at the time of the audit, and the audit report was attached to the audit report.
