Overnight, 29 ecosystem fires occurred in Mykolaiv region, destroying more than 140 hectares of wheat and dozens more hectares of dead wood. The largest fire engulfed fields in the village of Myroliubivka, while other incidents were recorded in Snihurivka and Porichchia, where the fire reached residential buildings and farmland.

This was reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv region.

During June 19 and on the night of June 20, units of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in Mykolaiv Oblast were dispatched 29 times to extinguish fires in ecosystems. Dry grass, shrubs, and in some cases agricultural land were burning.

The largest incident occurred in the village of Myroliubivka in the Voskresenska community of Mykolaiv district. This fire was classified as a natural disaster at the facility level.

At 16:50, a report of a wheat field on fire was received. A crew of the 16th State Fire and Rescue Unit and the local fire department from Peresadivka were sent to extinguish the fire. Despite attempts to localize the fire using haystacks, strong winds ruined all efforts - 140 hectares of wheat burned.

The fire also occurred in the village of Porichchia in the Veselynivka community. The fire engulfed a household plot where barley and wheat were burning. The fire destroyed 0.82 hectares of wheat and 0.2 hectares of barley by the roots. The fire reached the residential sector, where three outbuildings burned down. Rescuers from the 11th State Fire and Rescue Unit extinguished the fire over an area of 2.5 hectares and saved three houses and 2 hectares of wheat from destruction.

Another fire broke out in Snihurivka. The flames spread from dry grass to a field of wheat. In total, 2.5 hectares burned down, including half a hectare of wheat on the roots. Thanks to the prompt actions of rescuers from the 24th State Fire and Rescue Unit and the assistance of utility equipment from Snihurivskyi Komunalnyk, the company managed to save about 60 hectares of grain.

In addition to the above cases, the fire was spreading to dead wood in every district of the region. The total area of burned ecosystems is over 15 hectares.

Recently, a teenager from Mykolaiv region was awarded one of the first special awards for his heroic actions during the fire. A short circuit caused a fire in the room where his six-year-old brother was staying, and Dmytro Amalskyi, hearing the screams, immediately rushed to help.
