Denmark Allocates ₴ 477M for 33 Recovery Projects in Mykolaiv Region

Denmark has allocated more than 477 million for recovery projects in Mykolaiv region. The main funds were spent on modernizing shelters in educational institutions and reconstructing residential neighborhoods, as well as purchasing generators and mobile boilers for critical facilities.

Intent decided to find out which recovery projects received funding.

Thus, according to the DREAM digital recovery ecosystem, recovery projects relate to five sectors of the economy. The largest is the education sector, accounting for 60.61%. Energy and mining came in second with 24.24%. Social protection covered 9.09%, public administration - 3.03%, and water, sanitation and waste management - also 3.03%.

In total, Denmark has funded 33 recovery projects in Mykolaiv region. The total budget of the projects amounted to UAH 477.3 million, and 99.12% has been funded so far.

Let's start with the education sector, which has received more than half of the funding. In 2024, the partner country provided UAH 2.9 million to repair the bomb shelter of the Mykolaiv Palace of Student Creativity. The tender for a contractor was announced in October by the Department of Housing and Communal Services. Repair of the bomb shelter at the Mykolaiv Lyceum named after Professor M. Aleksandrov cost 1.9 million. Last August, a contract worth almost a million was awarded to the newly created NDB-GROUP company, whose services are often used by the executive committee of Mykolaiv City Council.

International partners also financed the repair of shelters for kindergartens for UAH 13 million 380 thousand.

Almost UAH 12 million was allocated in 2024 to repair the Mykolaiv Construction College. Recreation areas with benches, gazebos and spaces for active leisure for students will also be arranged on the college's territory.

To ensure the educational safety of the city's lyceums, UAH 4 million was spent to repair the bomb shelter of Mykolaiv Lyceum No. 41; UAH 3.5 million - gymnasium No. 52; UAH 1.8 million - gymnasium No. 7; UAH 1.9 million - gymnasium No. 24; UAH 1.7 million - gymnasium No. 30; over UAH 600 thousand - gymnasium No. 36; and UAH 2.1 million - gymnasium No. 6.

UAH 5.6 million was allocated for the overhaul of non-residential premises to accommodate the ASC. In total, 10.6 million is needed to implement the project. The repairs are being carried out by the favorite of Mykolaiv departments, ITC Mykolaivbud, and the contract with the company has been extended for another year.

In addition, Denmark has funded a one hundred percent comprehensive reconstruction of the Korabelny neighborhood, which was damaged by shelling. In total, 29 houses are to be restored for more than 153 million. The reconstruction also touched Lisky-1 and Lisky-2 neighborhoods. Denmark has allocated 100 million hryvnias for their reconstruction. The project aims to create a comfortable and safe living environment that will contribute to the city's sustainable development.

As for the energy sector, Denmark provided UAH 49.7 million for the purchase of diesel generators forMykolaivoblteploenergo. These funds were allocated back in 2023. In total, 26 diesel generators of various capacities and configurations were purchased for the utility company.

The international partner provided UAH 35.3 million for the purchase of 6 solid fuel mobile boiler houses for Mykolaivoblteploenergo, and more than UAH 76 million for 13 mobile modular boiler houses. The project envisaged the renovation and modernization of the company's thermal facilities to improve the quality of heat supply in Mykolaiv. These funds were also allocated in 2023. In addition, the purchase of 4 generators for Mykolaivvodokanal cost the Danes UAH 2 million 800 thousand.

Thus, the bulk of the funds were spent on modernizing shelters in schools, kindergartens, colleges and reconstructing residential areas, including Korabelne and Liski. Significant investments were also made in energy infrastructure, including the purchase of generators and mobile boilers for critical facilities.

In early March 2025, Denmark provided Mykolaiv region with more than €26 million to restore energy, transport, water supply, and humanitarian demining. These funds are aimed at strengthening critical infrastructure and improving security in the region.
