The Vysokopilska community in Kherson Oblast is planning to create a sanatorium-style social dormitory for people who lost their homes due to the war or are now living in dangerous areas of the region. The project involves the reconstruction of two large buildings on the territory of the local hospital, which will accommodate about 400 people.

This is evidenced by data from the DREAM ecosystem.

According to the project description, Vysokopillia became one of the most affected settlements in the region: before the full-scale war, more than 11,000 people lived here, and after the liberation, only 1,200 remained. Over time, some people returned, but now less than six thousand people live in the community - and the issue of safe housing remains critical.

The hospital has two buildings with three and five floors, a separate boiler room, and a 2.5-hectare plot. After the reconstruction, they will be transformed into a social dormitory with places to live, rooms for rehabilitation, and the opportunity to receive social and medical services. The buildings have civil defense facilities, which is also important for residents of frontline regions.

The project initiators emphasize that the main goal is to create conditions for people to return to the community and provide those who have lost their homes with a safe place to live. The dormitory will also become a socialization center for internally displaced persons.

The total estimated budget for the reconstruction is UAH 125 million.

The work is planned to be completed from 2024 to 2025, but the project currently has no confirmed source of funding. The Vysokopillya village council hopes to raise funds through government programs, international partners, and the Single Project Portfolio.

The project is included in the community recovery and development plan until 2027 and has an active status, but is still at the stage of seeking funding.

Kherson initiated the reconstruction of the basement of the obstetrics unit of the Kherson City Clinical Hospital named after Luchansky. It is planned to create a modern rehabilitation unit and an equipped shelter. The total estimated cost of the work exceeds UAH 163 million.
