Police investigators have sent to court the case of two teenagers from Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district of Odesa region who were detained in June for the abuse and beating of a 12-year-old boy.

According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa Oblast, the boys are charged with torture committed by a group of people by prior conspiracy.

The older man is also accused of illegal deprivation of liberty of a minor, accompanied by physical suffering, with the use of weapons, carrying a cold weapon without a permit provided for by law, threats of murder, intentional battery that caused physical pain and did not cause bodily harm.

During the pre-trial investigation, the police found that the 17-year-old boy decided to teach his 12-year-old friend a lesson for his offensive remarks. Having conspired with a 16-year-old friend, the accomplices met the minor in an unfinished building. The older offender intimidated the victim with a knife, beat him with his hands and feet, threw various objects at him, threatened him with violence, humiliated him, and forbade him to leave the room. Another attacker filmed everything on his phone, supporting his friend and increasing the victim's fear.

Investigators seized a number of physical evidence, including a knife used by one of the defendants during the crime. According to an expert opinion, it belongs to cold steel. The police detained the young men in a procedural order. The court imposed a pre-trial restraint on them: the older one in the form of detention, the younger one in the form of round-the-clock house arrest.

If found guilty, the younger boy faces imprisonment for a term of five to ten years, while the older one, depending on the crime, will be fined the least severe penalty - imprisonment for up to five years.
