In Odesa, fall vacations for schoolchildren are being restored. The majority of parents and teachers supported the vacation, so schools returned to the traditional schedule.

This was reported by Olena Buynevych, Director of the Department of Education and Science of the Odesa City Council.

According to her, the department received a letter from the Odesa Regional State Administration recommending the return of the holidays. Before that, the feedback from parents and teachers' suggestions were carefully considered. Buynevych noted that most schools have already returned the autumn vacation, except for one, which has the right to determine its own schedule.

The information about the resumption of vacations was confirmed by the director of the Department of Education and Science of the Odesa Regional State Administration Oleksandr Lonchak. In a commentary to Suspilne, he noted that the decision to approve the structure of the school year and the postponement of vacations is made by pedagogical councils. A survey was conducted among the parent community on the need for autumn vacations, and the majority of parents were in favor of them. Lonchak emphasized that the constructive comments of parents were taken into account.

Each school's pedagogical council decides on the structure of the school year and autumn vacation. Odesa region is one of them. If they realize that they need autumn holidays, they go on autumn vacations," summarized Oleksandr Lonchak.

Earlier, the issue of canceling the autumn holidays was discussed in Odesa region. The decision was to be made by local education authorities and heads of educational institutions. However, the majority of parents opposed the cancellation of children's vacations, which was a decisive factor in the final decision.

Also recently, rumors about the introduction of a region-wide quarantine in schools were denied in Odesa. According to the Odesa Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the temporary transition of some educational institutions to distance learning is only due to the increased incidence of SARS. This decision is purely preventive and is aimed at maintaining the health of students and preventing the spread of diseases in schools.
