After leaving for Russia, a resident of the Kherson region set up a network to gather information about Ukrainian military personnel near the front lines. To do this, he enlisted the help of a medical professional he knew, who was able to document Defense Forces facilities.

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the investigation, the man left for Russia in approximately June 2024 but decided to collaborate with the aggressor state. To gather intelligence, he enlisted his former neighbor—a medical worker who was employed in Kherson and commuted daily to work from a village near the line of combat engagement.

Investigators established that during August and September 2025, while traveling through the Kherson region, the medical worker gathered data on the locations of Ukrainian military units, fortifications, checkpoints, military equipment, and the routes along which it moved.

He transmitted the information he obtained via Telegram. The messages contained coordinates, screenshots of digital maps, photographs of the terrain, and detailed descriptions of the sites.

Law enforcement officials documented more than 20 instances of the transmission of information regarding the locations of Ukrainian Defense Forces units, artillery positions, fortifications, military equipment, and other military facilities.

In addition, the man received information about how long equipment remained at specific positions, as well as recommendations regarding the times when, in the accomplice’s opinion, it would be advisable to strike these targets.

Since the organizer is in hiding in Russia, he will be tried in absentia under special judicial proceedings. Meanwhile, his former neighbor is already in custody.

In late June, another person who directed enemy attacks on Kherson was sentenced to life in prison. Among the targets for which information was provided were educational institutions, kindergartens, and parks.
