Starting May 4, Mykolaiv will introduce a new payment format for electric transport - the so-called controller's ticket for passengers without paying fares. Its cost will be UAH 300.
The innovation was announced by Yuriy Smetana, director of Mykolaivelectrotrans. According to him, the ticket will be offered to passengers who have not purchased a travel document during the trip.
If the passenger refuses to pay, the controllers will call the police. It is the police who have the authority to draw up administrative reports for fare evasion and other violations of public transport rules.
The controllers will work with body cameras and will be equipped with panic buttons to call the State Security Service. In the event of a conflict situation, vehicles may be delayed at the bus stop until the security arrives, after which the offender will be removed from the vehicle.
As a reminder, public transportation fares have been raised in Mykolaiv - the new tariffs will take effect in late April and early May.
The city council explained the increase in fares by the rising cost of fuel, spare parts and materials, as well as the increase in the minimum wage.
It should be noted that currently the fare for public electric transportation is UAH 10 for a paper ticket and UAH 8 for a QR code.
As Intent previously wrote, a new trolleybus route No. 14 "Mykolaiv-Vantazhnyi - Kazarskoho Street" will soon appear in Mykolaiv.
In addition, Mykolaiv will receive 40 tramcars from the Swedish city of Gothenburg. These are M29 trams, which were previously used in the Swedish urban transportation system.
As a reminder, in December 2025, tram service was resumed in Mykolaiv on the route No. 3 ChSZ - 10th Military. Electric vehicles are running again according to their usual schedule.
