In Mykolaiv, the director of a hospital was notified that he is suspected of professional negligence. The facility received more than 15.2 million hryvnias from the budget for services it was actually unable to provide.
This was reported by the press service of the Mykolaiv Regional Police.
According to the investigation, the case involves the 58-year-old director of a municipal medical facility. Between 2023 and 2025, he entered into contracts with the National Health Service of Ukraine to fund medical services under the medical guarantees program.
Specifically, the hospital was supposed to receive funds for:
Law enforcement officials claim that the director was aware of problems with the hospital’s operations. The facility allegedly lacked medical staff and did not have the necessary equipment to fulfill the terms of the contracts.
Despite this, according to the investigation, the director signed monthly reports on the provision of medical care and ensured their submission to the National Health Service of Ukraine (NSZU).
Subsequently, more than 15.2 million hryvnias in budget funds were transferred to the hospital’s account. Investigators believe the facility received this money without sufficient grounds.
The director was notified of charges under Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—official negligence resulting in serious consequences.
If found guilty, he could face up to five years in prison. The court may also bar him from holding certain positions for up to three years and impose a fine.
Investigators have now filed a motion to impose a pretrial restraint on the suspect. The pretrial investigation is ongoing.
As reported by Intent, in July, a 56-year-old hospital director in the Mykolaiv region was notified of a suspicion of official negligence. He is accused of embezzling nearly 11 million in budget funds.
