Yulia Ryabova, a journalist from Odesa, won the Newcomer of the Year nomination at the annual IMRO's Radio Awards ceremony held in Ireland.

The ceremony took place in Kilkenny, according to Detector Media.

Yulia moved to Ireland in 2023. In 2024, she became the host and producer of the New Residents podcast on Radio Kerry, a Kerry County radio station with a daily audience of 89,000 listeners. The podcast is dedicated, in particular, to Ukrainians who are under temporary protection in Ireland.

During the year, Yulia also produced two major radio documentary projects covering the stories of Ukrainian refugees. The award was presented to Yulia by Jackie Neill, chair of the IMRO's Radio Awards jury. When she got up on stage, the Ukrainian unfurled a blue and yellow flag.

Earlier, the jury of the 16th Odesa International Film Festival determined the winners in various nominations, who received this year's Golden Duke diplomas and statuettes. "The Grand Prix was awarded to the film You Are Space directed by Pavlo Ostrikov based on the results of the audience vote. This year's Odesa International Film Festival started on October 24 in Kyiv. The opening ceremony took place at the Parkovy Exhibition and Convention Center.

In September, journalists from the Ukrainian service of Radio Liberty's Schemes program, Valeria Yegoshina and Yulia Khymerik from Odesa, and their colleague Iryna Sysak, received a special award at the 2025 National Investigative Journalism Competition for their investigation into how Russians recruit teenagers to set fire to military vehicles. In their research, the journalists described how a trend of cooperation with the FSB is spreading among Ukrainian teenagers. It turned out that Russian special services are massively recruiting children for sabotage in Ukraine.
