Getting a veterinary passport is an important step for every responsible pet owner. This document not only records vaccinations and treatments, but is also required for traveling abroad or participating in exhibitions.

What is a veterinary passport for?

A veterinary passport is an official document that contains information about the animal (species, breed, age), its vaccinations, anthelmintic treatment, sterilization, and other veterinary interventions. A passport is required

• for traveling abroad;
• participation in exhibitions and competitions;
• sale or transfer of an animal;
• to record vaccinations, in particular against rabies.

What do I need to do to get a veterinary passport?

To obtain a veterinary passport for an animal:

1. Contact a public or private veterinary clinic that has a license.
2. Have an initial examination of the animal.
3. Get vaccinated (if not already done), including rabies vaccination.
4. Get a passport with filled-in data: information about the animal, vaccinations, chipping (if necessary).

How much does a veterinary passport cost?

The price may vary depending on the region and clinic. On average:

• public clinic: 100 to 200 hryvnias.
• private clinic: from 200 to 500 UAH, depending on the services (examination, vaccination, chipping, etc.).

Who has the right to issue veterinary passports?

The right to issue a veterinary and sanitary passport is granted to

• licensed veterinarians;
• veterinary institutions registered in the system of state control of veterinary medicine of Ukraine.

Where can I get a veterinary passport?

At a state veterinary clinic;

In private veterinary clinics that have the appropriate license;

At border veterinary stations (in case of traveling abroad).

How to change the owner of an animal in a passport?

To change the owner in the passport, the new owner must contact the veterinary clinic with the animal's passport. The doctor will make changes to the "Owner" column: name, contact information, address. The changes are confirmed by the veterinarian's signature and seal.

Please note: if the animal is chipped, the change of ownership must also be recorded in the database.
