From PhD to suspect: a teacher of a pseudo-university exposed in Kherson

While Kherson was under occupation, the seized university launched education according to Russian standards, with new programs and teachers. One of those involved in this process, according to the investigation, was a local scholar who has now been notified of suspicion.

This was reported by the press service of the National Police in the Kherson region.

According to the investigation, after the seizure of Kherson in the spring of 2022, the occupation authorities occupied the premises of Kherson National University and, using its material base, created Kherson Technical University.

Law enforcement officers found that the 58-year-old candidate of technical sciences accepted the offer of representatives of the occupation administration and began working at this institution. In August 2022, she took the position of associate professor of the Department of Management and Marketing, actually acting as its head.

The investigation found that the woman organized the educational process in Russian and developed a curriculum in accordance with Russian standards for the bachelor's program in management. It included, in particular, disciplines related to the Russian language, Russian history and "moral education."

In addition, in September-October 2022, she personally taught students the discipline "introduction to professional activity", kept attendance records, acted as a group supervisor and instructed freshmen.

Thus, according to the investigation, the suspect facilitated the integration of students into the educational process, organized according to the standards of the aggressor state. Her actions are qualified under Part 3 of Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - collaboration.

Currently, the woman, who is 61 years old, has been served a notice of suspicion in coordination with the prosecutor's office. She faces up to three years in prison and a ban on holding certain positions for a period of 10 to 15 years. The investigation is ongoing.
